New Pricing Strategies for Agencies, Clients

June 23, 2009
Ellen Moore serves as the chief operating officer at Carton Donofrio Partners, a full-service marketing agency in Baltimore. Ellen has been instrumental in implementing the company's new value pricing program. This new initiative is one that the AAAA's has discussed foryearsbut very few agencies have actually gone this route. Ellen discusses the need for flexibility in client payment and budgeting methodologies within the context of the current economic situation.Essentially this new pricing paradigm affords flexibility for both agencies and clients, and can be a great differentiator in the growth strategies for your firm.

Ellen arrived at Carton Donofrio Partners, Inc. in 2000 after a year filled with experiences. Ask her to tell you about eating larvae in Thailand! She had recently finished a backpacking trip around the world, where she visited 18 countries on six continents in pursuit of a life-long dream to travel around the world. Ellen's travels are an important component of a life and career spent in working to understand human behavior, across cultures and in multiple environments.

At Carton Donofrio Partners, Ellen has two roles. She leads agency teams working for The Calvert Group of mutual funds, Baltimore Area Convention and Visitors Association, and Guardian Industries, one of the world's largest suppliers of float glass. She also applies her expertise and experience in organizational development as our Chief Operating Officer. In that role, she works to ensure we're running an agency that delivers what our clients need to build successful marketing programs. She likes to say, "If we're not the best part of our clients' day, we're doing something wrong."

Prior to her trip around the world, she was a Brand Manager at Carton Donofrio Partners' client W.L. Gore & Associates, Inc., the legendary consensus-driven organization. At Gore she launched new GORE-TEX performance fabrics into the global marketplace and served on the strategic web team, leading the redesign of the Fabric Division's website. She was a liaison between Gore and the agency and was involved in creating award-winning communications programs.

Prior to Gore, Ellen rose through the ranks of an outdoor retail business headquartered in Charlotte, NC to become President of the company. Ellen credits her consumer perspective to her days on the retail floor where she had to learn to understand what the customer really wanted rather than merely offer what she had to sell them. In addition to leading the staff to business success, Ellen assisted with the design of the flagship store, which won Martin Pegler's "Stores of the Year" award in 1993. She implemented programs to increase the quality of service and improve customer loyalty.

Ellen holds a bachelor's degree in Journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a M.S. in Psychology with a specialization in Organizational Development from CapellaUniversity.
